Resting Rail Car

An Italian railways coal rail car rests alongside a coal bunker, partially visible in the background. In from of him is a buffer, indicating this is the end of the railway line.

The rail car is in HO scale (1:87) by Lima, and it sits on Märklin rails and buffer. The light signal behind it is also by Märklin. To give you an idea of its dimensions: it's about 3.5x1.5x1.5 inch, or 8.5x3.5x3.5 cm.

I got it for close to nothing together with four other cars, and looked pretty beaten up. I decided to put the poor little bugger on central stage, because I think it's very photogenic! Besides, after a hard, working life, he deserves a place to rest in the twilight world of Rust and Steel...

Little Stove

Last eve I made this little stove from a very simple kit. Its size is less than 1 inch (about 2.5 cm) all around.

I'll use it for the 'O gauge' train maintenance depot, which is one of the projects currently in the 'pipeline'. Just wanted to give the guys working there something to keep warm during the cold winter months, and to allow them to boil water for tea or coffee (black, no sugar please, these guys are tough!).

The wood used as fuel for the stove comes from Romania, and actually I burned it a bit to create a more realistic effect inside the stove, even when this will not be visible to whomever looks at it. I must say the wood smelled very nice too, I should do that more often!

Considering that the place where the stove will be located is pretty dusty, I weathered it accordingly. I hope you like it, please leave a comment if you do (and the same if you don't, as constructive feedback is always appreciated!).

The Old Crane Bearing

Nosferatu's Box of Shadows

Out of the depths of Darkness comes a creature older than time....
It is said that it feeds on the blood of the living, and needs to rest in the unholy soil where he once was buried. Hence he carries coffins full of this soil with him, wherever he goes....
Featured in the 1922 cult film "Nosferatu" by German director F.W. Murnau, with the iconic Max Schreck in the role of Graf Orlok, the Vampire, it surfaces again in a unique shadow box which is a loving tribute to the film, its director, and the immortal Max Schreck!
Coming soon here!!

Forgotten Corner

The artifacts in this 'forgotten corner' of my workstation are waiting for their turn to shine in new projects, while at the same time already shining by just 'being there'. Such is the power of their charisma. Time is a master painter indeed...

A Look Behind the Scenes

This is a picture I took today of "Work Station One". It shows several items that have been used -or will be used- for pictures and dioramas.

I'm showing you this to give you an idea of the scale of O gauge trains (the bigger wagons) vs HO trains (the green one in front of the clock).

Disc of Steel

Finally got my hands of a small project which I was eager to do: the Disc of Steel.

See the transformation of a boring, plastic disc into an old, rusty metal disc by clicking on the image below!
