Autumn sun

I love the autumn sun. It's warm, yet not hot. And it mingles with the shadows to create a distinct, dreamy atmosphere.

It's a feast of yellows, oranges, reds and browns, the typical "earth" colors. Time for introspection, time to turn inside. And time, also, for my little redhead to shine!

Walking doll (2)

Another picture of my walking doll as a follow up to yesterday's post. I'm sure she'll look great when dressed up.

Walking doll

Hello everyone! Today I'm sharing this picture of one of my cuties, a so-called "walking doll."

Walking dolls don't really "walk" on their own, but rather create that illusion because their stiff legs can be moved as if walking (looks rather like marching to me), whereby their head -which is connected to the legs by an internal mechanism- moves from side to side with each step.

I bought her in a relatively poor state, without any clothes and loose wig, but otherwise complete. She measures about 60cm, or 24 inches (2 feet) tall.

She remains as I got her, but I hope to be able to find her a nice dress and shoes, and treat her to a visit to a hairdresser.

The Little Nun

Hi all, I hope you're doing well!

Today I'm sharing a picture of one of my many dolls, big and small. She has no name or anything; it's just a cute little nun going about her day to day in her humble convent.

I like her a lot!

Believe

Dare to believe; to believe in something bigger than yourself, and to believe in you!

The Smallest

Behold the latest -and smallest- addition to my collection of antique and vintage dolls houses!

Pictured here inside the big 'Centennial' dolls house, this little beauty stands only 9 cm tall. Its width is 4,5 cm and is 6 cm deep (for my American friends, that is: 3.54x17.7x2.36 inches).

The house is made of plywood and is covered with paper. The inside is an empty space with no floors, but that can be changed if desired. I have no idea about her age, but I wouldn't be surprised if she's from 1950s vintage.

I'm thrilled with this little gem, as she mimics the 'look' of my bigger dolls houses perfectly. Just like her 'big sisters' she shows her age, and that makes her so fascinating! I couldn't wish for a better item to decorate one of my dolls houses with!

At Night

Sweet little Rain, sometimes I wonder: what happens in the living room while I sleep? Does stillness reign in shadows? Do your eyes see?

Birds

Mommy, the garden is full of birds! They're all dancing, and singing a song..!

Piu Avanti

 Don’t embrace defeat, even defeated,

Proceed like God, who never cries,
or like Lucifer, who never prays;
or be like the oak grove, whose grandeur
has need of water and won’t beg…

Extract from the poem "Piu Avanti," by Pedro Bonifacio Palacios (1854 – 1917)

Little Rascal

She's one of my smaller dolls; a barefoot cutie, 8 inches tall, and despite her small size, has quite a personality too!

When I pick her up, she gives me a certain 'look', as if saying "Put me down now, I'm not a baby, you know!"

Jenny Kiss'd Me

Jenny kiss’d me when we met,
Jumping from the chair she sat in;
Time, you thief, who love to get
Sweets into your list, put that in!
Say I’m weary, say I’m sad,
Say that health and wealth have miss’d me,
Say I’m growing old, but add,
Jenny kiss’d me.

Bath time

Little Billie doesn't like taking a bath, that much is clear from his behaviour. But no matter how much he cries and moans, he always ends up clean and proper and smelling of soap. Good boy, Billie, you 'survived' another bath!

Alice

As the room behind her slowly fills with shadows, Alice looks to the outside and waits. Soon, when it gets dark, her friends will come to play.

Little Troublemaker.

Don't give me that look, troublemaker, I know it was you who broke that tea cup.

Who was it, you say? "A mouse?" Sure..., because it couldn't possibly be you. could it?

Well, go tell that mouse that he better start behaving, if he doesn't want to get into BIG trouble!

Off you go. No, wait, the price for that tea cup is a kissie. There, now you can go!

She put her little arms around me and said " I love you daddy!" And off she went to more mischief, while I stayed behind with a broken cup, and a big smile on my face.

I hope you liked this blog. If so, leave a comment, and see you next time. Thank you!!

Little Diva.

A little theater diva sits pensive while she waits behind the scenes for her turn to take center stage.

She's just moments away of lighting up the night with her beauty and grace, but for now she sits, waits, and dreams away...

Jane is online..

A moment of inspiration drew me to do a photo shoot of my doll Jane. And I must say I enjoyed it so much, that I decided to do a follow up on this.

The little doll fascinates me, and, in my opinion, was born for her role of Jane of the Attic. So enjoy these few very first pictures of her, by clicking on the image below, and stay tuned for more!
